Holiday tips for the Vig area
The Sejerø Bay boasts a beautiful and child-friendly sandy beach. The small dunes dotted along the beach offer cosy, sheltered hollows. The beach is popular with windsurfers too.
The area around Vig also offers several other beaches, sandy as well as pebbly.
Towns close to Vig:
Odsherred has several charming and cosy villages, market towns and seaside towns.
Nykøbing Sjælland is a fairly large market town offering restaurants, cafés and a pedestrian street with high street shops as well as supermarkets.
If you prefer a more sizable town, Holbæk is just 20 minutes away, and if you want to add a bit of city spice to your holiday home stay, Roskilde is only 40 minutes away from Vig.
Activities and attractions:
If you take a trip from your holiday home to Roskilde, you can experience the city's impressive Cathedral (Roskilde Domkirke). For centuries, the cathedral has served as the burial site for the Danish monarchs, and in 1995 it was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Roskilde is also home to the Viking Ship Museum and its five original Viking ships, and in the summer months you can even get the ultimate sailing experience on board a reconstructed viking ship on the Roskilde Fjord.
Barely 10 kilometres from Vig Lyng lies the amusement park of Sommerland Sjælland featuring Zealand's biggest outdoor waterpark. With its 60 rides and amusements, Sommerland Sjælland is a great idea for an active family daytrip.
Or how about a visit to the Odsherred Zoo whose 8 hectares boast more than 600 animals of 100 different species? It is even possible to bring a picnic to the zoo and enjoy your lunch at one of its picnic tables. The zoo also has cafés as well as snack bars.
Among the other attractions of the area, the medieval frescos of the Church of Tuse, the beautifully situated 13th century Dragsholm Castle and the seal safaris from the harbour of Rørvig are all worth a mention.
