The Danish North Sea

Holiday House West coast

The northern part of Jutland’s west coast.
The northern part of Jutland’s west coast, stretching from the charming old town of Skagen in the north to Ulfborg in the Midwest, is known for having some of the most beautiful nature in Denmark. Here you can find an array of child friendly beaches and attractions like amusement parks, museums, historical buildings and small villages with cosy atmospheres.
The Danish west coast has it all – both for those who are looking for a quiet holiday with the family surrounded by beautiful nature and sceneries, and for those who prefer a more active vacation.

Skagen

The most northern town in the area is Skagen. It is here that the two oceans Skagerrak and Kattegat meet spectacularly, drawing thousands of people to the town every year. Skagen is, of corse, also well known for the historical painters and the special light that surrounds the town and the local area in the summertime.

Only 16 km from Skagen, you can visit Europe’s largest migrating dune desert; "Råbjerg Mile". The dune is almost 1000 m2 and ‘migrates’ up to 15 meters each year. This feature is of great importance to the people living next to the dune - some of them will receive a ‘visit’ from it in the following years! It has actually been forecast that, in the future, the dune will block the main road to Skagen.

In Hirtshals, you can visit Northern Europe’s biggest aquarium; The North Sea Oceanarium. The museum has a large ‘Oceanarium’ that consists of thousands of different fish and sharks. If you visit the museum, you also get the opportunity to meet seals and other ocean life.
