Whatever the time of year, Denmark's Lolland-Falster region is the perfect base for a holiday. The town of Marielyst boasts a 20 kilometre-long child friendly beach as well as attractive countryside and plenty to do. If the weather is not at its best, the Lalandia tropical water park is a popular family destination, as is Knuthenborg Safari Park, where you can observe wild animals at close quarters from the comfort of your vehicle. Other attractions include the Middle Ages Centre near the town of Nykøbing Falster. Here, the whole family can gain a unique insight into daily life in bygone days, with open workshops, a medieval shopping street, jousting tournaments and even an ancient ship. Nykøbing Falster is also home to Folkeparken, an attractive park containing a small zoo and children's playground.
