This region's attractive countryside provides plenty of opportunity for activities, including walking or cycling in the forest, sailing trips on the historic paddle steamer "Hjejlen", canoeing on the Gudenå River or relaxing beside the region's idyllic lakes. With its wealth of museums, art galleries, events and other attractions, the picturesque town of Silkeborg also provides plenty to do for families. The region is also home to many rivers and lakes, meaning fishing is a popular - and often productive - pastime. Other attractions include the all-weather ski slope at Gjern, which is well suited to a family visit.
