The Skive region is distinctive for its wide open spaces, attractive coastline and shimmering lakes and fjords, the most prominent of which is the Limfjord. With its charming harbours and child friendly beaches, the Limfjord is an excellent base for waterbound activities such as windsurfing. The region's rolling hills and charming countryside also make it especially attractive for nature lovers. Popular outings include the ferry trip to the island of Fur, with its impressive moler cliffs that dominate the coastline. Other activities include a tour of an extensive system of chalk mines, which are now home to large colonies of bats. Alternatively, you can go in search of one of the region's many ghosts at Staarup Hovedgaard, the region's oldest manor house.
